Here we are again at the start of a brand new year for our Mile High Denver Chapter! I hope you have all enjoyed the summer, whether busy with work projects and/or vacations, we tend to spend summer always in the here and now. This year I am excited and eager to expand our knowledge together as a community that is engaged in our profession.
Continuing on from the very successful theme last year of the CRM exam, our theme for this year is Sharpening Your RIM Tool Kit. Topics this year are targeted toward adding to or adding new skills to your tool kit as a RIM professional; things like business analysis, emotional intelligence, working with users, and even how to network. Our upcoming meeting this September will aim to show us how networking can be effective in not only pursuing a career but furthering you in a current role or roles. I know that I am looking forward to getting to network with more of you all this year!
The whole program year has been designed with our theme in mind and you can check out all speakers and topics on our calendar – a great way to plan ahead this year. If it all looks intriguing to you, we hope you will take advantage of the full year pre-pay option. This opportunity will give you $5.00 off each meeting throughout the year and can be helpful if you only want to pay once. If you are unable to attend a meeting you may send a coworker or guest in your place. The pre-pay package allows you to register for just monthly meetings, or you can also include the Spring Seminar early bird registration cost (and get $5 off for it too). Check out the table of savings and email us at firstname.lastname@example.org by October 7th if you are going to complete the full year pre-pay option.
One more educational opportunity I wanted to call attention to, and perhaps ask for a call to action on, is the idea of “flipped learning”. Each ARMA Session of the Month was chosen to correspond with that month’s meeting, so I would like to encourage everyone to watch the session of the month prior to the meeting, take one interesting thing you learned in the video and at that month’s meeting start a conversation with your table mates. One of the most beneficial things to belonging to a chapter like ours is that we can learn from each other and collaborate across industries. Please make sure to check out a listing of the Sessions of the Month on our website, along with instructions on how to view them.
Finally, I would like to introduce our Chapter Charity of the year for 2016-2017, Dress for Success Denver! While this organization may be best known for providing business attire to women who are interviewing for jobs, they also support women in all aspects of building a career. From resume help, mock interviews, and mentoring; Dress for Success helps thousands of women succeed both in life and work. This year we will be raising funds to support this cause as well as collecting gently used clothes, jewelry, shoes, etc., and we will also have an opportunity to volunteer with our many skills in the ways mentioned above. Please stay tuned for upcoming opportunities to volunteer your time and knowledge!
The board has been working very hard a diligently over the summer to prepare the upcoming year and we are here to support our members. So, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any board member with questions by email or pop-up and say hi at the next meeting!
